Seminar Intro to Upper Cervical

Scottish Chiropractic Association
Introduction to Upper Cervical

Presented by Dr Ankur Tayal
Saturday 1st October 2022
Norton House, Edinburgh
1pm till 6pm
6 hours of CPD

This will be a fun class! Join Dr. Ankur Tayal as he gives a 5-hour introduction to the exciting world of Upper Cervical Chiropractic.

Chiropractors understand the importance of the relationship between the spine and the nervous system, so when it comes to the area known as the cranio-cervical junction, or upper cervical spine, there are some interesting and important nuances to consider when assessing that area.

This class will cover the following topics:
• History of Upper Cervical (UC), including its origins and development into the various approaches that are around today

• The philosophy and rationale for UC, including an overview of the 2 main models (Articular and
Orthogonal) and how they’ve become the techniques we currently use (Toggle, NUCCA, Knee-Chest, Blair, etc)

• A review of the anatomy, biomechanics and neurology of the Cranio-Cervical Junction (CCJ) and howhead and neck trauma can affect normal biomechanics and neurological function

• Assessing the upper cervical spine using objective measures and technology to determine when and how to correct misalignments

• Adjusting drills, patient positioning and set-ups for Toggle Recoil

• How to follow up and learn more if you’re interested in going deeper!

By the end of the day, you will have some more tools to assess and correct the atlas, regardless of your technique of preference, and you will know where to go if you want to learn more.
